Gombe Governor Mourns Durbin Gombe

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has expressed deep sadness over the demise of elder statesman, Alhaji Lamido Abubakar (Durbin Gombe) who died yesterday in Gombe at the age of 79.

The Governor who attended the funeral prayer for the deceased traditional title holder held at the Bubayero Central Mosque, Emir’s Palace, Gombe, described the death of Durbin Gombe as a huge loss to the state and the nation.

The Governor, in a message of condolence, noted that the late elder statesman devoted a better part of his life to the service of the state, country and humanity and left behind a legacy of honour and dignity.

According to the Governor, ā€œThe whole of Gombe State has suffered a huge loss with the death of Durbin Gombe, who ranked as one of the most respected elders and community leaders in the state.

He consoled the bereaved to take solace, not only in the fact that all living souls must taste death, but also that the deceased had lived a fulfilled and honorable life worthy of emulation.

Governor Yahaya conveyed the deepest condolences of the government and people of Gombe state to the Durbi family and the Gombe Emirate Council where he served as member and one of the king makers until his demise.

He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus.
