Day Imo SA Diaspora Moved A Proposal For First Ever Black Deputy Mayor Of Wolverhampton, U.K.

Last Thursday, May 19, 2021, was a historic date. It was the day history was made in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom (U. K.) as Honourable Councillor Celia Osakwe-Hibbert who is also the SA on Diaspora Affairs to Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State moved a proposal for the first ever black person to assume the Office of Deputy Mayor in Wolverhampton after 173 years of Mayor making in the City of Wolverhampton.

The Governor Uzodimma’s Special Adviser on Diaspora in her outstanding speech delivered in Wolverhampton Council Chambers, effortlessly listed the several reasons why Councillor Sandra Samuels should be made the Deputy Mayor of Wolverhampton.

Celia Osakwe-Hibbert reminded Mr. Mayor and the people of Wolverhampton that her nominee has already received an OBE award from the Queen of England.

Imo Governor’s Aide who is also an elected Councillor of Penn in the City of Wolverhampton added that, “Councillor Sandra Samuels ‘OBE’ will be a hardworking Deputy Mayor for the citizens of Wolverhampton”.

It is worthy to note that since 1848, The City of Wolverhampton has never had a black Mayor or Deputy Mayor. Yesterday, this jinx was  broken by the emergence of Cllr. Sandra Samuels ‘OBE’ and Hon. Cllr. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert will go down in history as the person who proposed the first ever African-Caribbean Deputy Mayor of Wolverhampton!
