PTI Reaffirmed Readiness And Capacity To Train Commercial Divers
The Petroleum Training lnstitute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State, at the weekend, reaffirmed her readiness and demonstrated capacity for the training of class one Commercial Divers as
they commenced Underwater Welding a and Cutting exercise by diving trainees.
The exercise which took place at Dive Tank in front of the Offshore Technology OTEC/School of Diving witnessed Principal officers of the Institute and other relevant stakeholders in attendance.
Dr Henry A Adimula the Principal/ Chief Executive Officer of PTI in his key note address reaffirmed that PTI by this flag off exercise has officially commenced
the commercial training of class one
professional divers in line with Internationally accepted best practice.
Dr Adimula the PTI boss explained that
the Offshore Technology and Energy
Centre of PTl is maned by competent personnel with sound and up-to-date equipment which validates whatever
they do here to be very credible tested and trusted.
He added: “From the practical exercise
you saw how our diving trainees went 15th metres deep inside the simulator
to carry out practical Underwater Welding and Cutting , which means
we don’t need to go abroad again to
train specialized skill personnel in Underwater Welding for the Oil and Gas industry.”
Conclusively he said: ” Let me remark on a final note that PTI in line with our core primary objective of training manpower for the oil and gas industry we will continue to remain resolute and committed to academic excellence
in the drive to meet our core objectives.”
Engr Dr Michael A Adegbite , the
Director , Offshore Technology and Energy Centre, in his speech asserted that PTI is ready and committed to the
Production of Professionals to develop the Offshore environment .

appealed for technical support saying:
“What we are currently doing now like
the Principal explained is class one
diving personnel which is 15 metres depth Underwater, but we still need support from industry players, the Government and other relevant stakeholders to train class two divers which goes down to the depth of 50 metres Underwater.

Posited: “Today, we have practically demonstrated Underwater Welding and Cutting. What we have done shows that
PTI is a one stop place for training and
capacity building in all sections of the Oil and Gas industry.
Alhaji Suleman Zailani , Assistant Director and Head of Public Affrairs Department in his contribution said: “The flag off of the Underwater Welding and Cutting here in PTI is indeed an epoch making events because it is a major breakthrough in ensuring that professional Underwater Welders can be trained here in PTI.”
Speaking further he noted: “You know very well too that this aspect is a very important segment of the oil and gas industry, what they did is Welding and Cutting of Oil Pipe line in a water depth of 15 metres just as it is done in open air operations.”
The exercise is indeed a delight to
the Principal Engr Henry Adimula, top Management Staff of the lnstitute, industrial players and other relevant stakeholders, Zailani concluded.
