The Deputy National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Hon. (Dr.) Ikenna Adikibe, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria, with a special message of hope, unity, and progress to the people of Imo State.
In his Easter message, Dr. Adikibe described the season as a time of joy, reconciliation, and renewal, emphasizing its significance for a state like Imo that continues to strive toward stability and sustainable development. He noted that the lessons of Easterโsacrifice, compassion, and forgivenessโremain critical in building cohesive communities and advancing collective progress.
The ALGON chieftain commended the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, for what he described as purposeful leadership and commitment to development. According to him, the governorโs efforts in fostering growth and stability in the state reflect the core values symbolized by the Easter season, particularly service to humanity and dedication to the common good.
โEaster is a season of joy and reconciliation,โ Dr. Adikibe stated, urging Christians and all residents of the state to embrace unity and forgiveness as essential tools for peacebuilding. He stressed that enduring peace remains the bedrock upon which meaningful development can be achieved, adding that Imo Stateโs resilience will be further strengthened through collective adherence to these values.
Highlighting the role of ALGON in grassroots governance, Dr. Adikibe reiterated the associationโs commitment to supporting local governments in delivering people-oriented services. He called on leaders across the 27 local government areas of Imo Stateโand indeed across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territoryโto govern with humility, accountability, and dedication in line with national development objectives.
He further assured Nigerians that ALGON remains steadfast in its mission to promote unity, strengthen local governance, and drive community-based development across the country.
Dr. Adikibe concluded his message with prayers for a joyful Easter celebration, expressing hope that the season will usher in renewed prosperity, peace, and progress for Imo State and the nation at large.
