I’ll Have No Sectional Agenda, Okowa Tells Deltans
Delta State Governor-elect, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has assured the people of the state of keeping the promises he made during his campaign by ensuring that his administration operates on a progressive and all-inclusive template that has no sectional agenda.
Senator Okowa said that he would continue in the forward-looking path trod by the outgoing governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, particularly regarding the Delta-beyond-oil initiative.
He dismissed insinuation hat he may might have a preconceived agenda tilted to his Delta North senatorial district which is producing a governor for the first time since the creation of the state in August 1991.
“There will be nothing like Anioma (Delta North) Agenda”, he pointed out that all citizens of the state would be equally regarded by his government, irrespective of ethnic or even political affiliation and whether or not they voted for him and the PDP.
Speaking after being formally declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in the state with total of 274,680 votes, Okowa said that PDP has been faithful in its commitment to the people since 1999.
The newly elected governor said that part of the legacies and programmes he would build on include the Warri Industrial Park project, which he promised during his electioneering campaign he would take to even higher level.
He also noted that the micro-credit and agricultural programmes of the Uduaghan administration would be sustained and expanded to promote entrepreneurship especially among the youths.
