Nigeria’s Vice President’s Church Hit By Suicide Bomber, Kill Six
A church on the outskirts of Potiskum, Yobe State was on Sunday morning attacked by a suicide bomber, suspected to belong to the Boko Haram Islamic sect, killing six persons, including the Pastor and a family of three in the process.
TheStreetReporters.com gathered that the dead family of three comprised of a woman and her two children, both boys.
The others who died were another worshipper and the suicide bomber.
The explosion occurred at about 9:30am.
A member of the Nigerian Red Cross who was at the scene of the incident, Hassan Muhammad, said the explosion occurred shortly before the commencement of the service.
Muhammad said the suicide bomber mixed with the congregation as they were entering the church.
He said if the service had been in full swing when the explosive went off, the casualty figure would have been more.
Yobe State has been the scene of several explosions and attacks since dreaded sect, Boko Haram, launched its campaign some years back.
