I’ll Publish NNPC Financial Transactions, Says New GMD
The Nigeria’s Group Managing Director (GMD) of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Ibe Kachiukwu, has reportedly told his colleague that he was set to publish the national oil corporation’s financial transactions from September this year.
The details of the modalities being put in place for the periodic publication of the financial transactions within the corporation is yet to be made public at the time of this report.
However, speaking at his maiden town hall meeting with employees of the corporation at the NNPC Towers in Abuja on Wednesday, Kachiukwu said, “I want transparency. Beginning from next month, I want to be able to publish what the company makes. I have told the President that as from next week I will be sending him weekly reports.
This will be the first time the financial transactions of the corporation would be made public by any GMD.
On the heels of the widespread allegation of missing millions of dollars at the NNPC, the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, administration had ordered a forensic audit of the corporation, with the NNPC indicted as some unremitted revenues were discovered.
