The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has honored the
Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor as best performing Local Government Council Chairman in Delta State for the year 2015.
The presentation of the award was in the Chairman’s office at Ozoro the headquarters of Isoko North Local Government recently.
The Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Students, Joint Campus Committee (NANS/JCC), Delta State Axis, Com. Ogbe Oghenetega Collins, who made the presentation noted that he was chosen “after a critical and meticulous assessment of the antecedents of Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, especially his outstanding leadership qualities, administrative and managerial competencies, his committed effort towards adding value to the life of the good people of Isoko North, his strong commitment for community development and security strategies embarked upon over the the year.”
He said NANS as well observed “his commitment to the service of our dear state with accountability and transparency as his watch-word”, which “endeared him to members of NANS to honor him as the Best Performing Local Government Chairman of the Year in Delta State.”
Speaking further, Com. Ogbe Collins said NANS Delta State were particularly attracted to Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor because of his love for students in Delta State, most especially the helping hand he has been extending to the less privileged in the society, his immense contribution to tackling security challenges in Ozoro, the free eye care Programme, establishment of Isoko Radio among others.
In a brief acceptance speech, Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor thanked God for the honour as well as NANS for finding him worthy to be so honored, while dedicating the award to the good people of Isoko North Local Government who voted for him.
“I give glory to God for this opportunity and I thank NANS for this award
as I dedicate it to the good people of Isoko North Local Government for
giving me the opportunity to serve them.
“I want to assure them that the best is yet to come as we pray for wisdom,
knowledge and for an improvement in the finances of the local government.
We will do our best to be prudent in managing what is available to ensure
that we provide them with dividends of democracy as encapsulated in the
prosperity agenda of His Excellency Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
“I also want to assure NANS that the local government will partner with
them in their quest to curb examination malpractice and to extinguish all forms of campus violence such cultism and other anti-social vices in our tertiary institutions.”
Present at the presentation were Special Adviser to the Chairman Mr John Ubueme, Personal Assistant Mr Anthony Egodi, Media Assistant Moses Omovevah as well as other members of the NANS Executive.
