Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s President

Following the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to fund the ruling party, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, has openly disclosed that the party is now broke.

The Street Reporters was the first to break the news of Buhari’s refusal to fund APC.

However, Oyegun claimed that despite the financial challenges, the party does not intend to bother President Muhammadu Buhari because raising funds for the party was not part of his national assignment as the Commander-in-Chief.

Oyegun stated this at an interactive session with newsmen at the APC headquarters in Abuja.

“The party is suffering the strains of funding.

“We are working to raise resources within the membership. We have not asked for rescue from the president because it is not part of his national assignment,” he said.
