Workers of Enugu State, under the aegis of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), have backed Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s economic agenda aimed at job creation and boosting the state’s revenue.
[metaslider id=4498]The view of the workers was contained in a statement jointly signed by the state chairman and secretary of the congress, Comrades Igbokwe Chukwuma Igbokwe and Benneth Asogwa, commending Ugwuanyi for reconstituting committees on Enugu State Council on Commercialisation and Privatisation and the Enugu State Technical Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation, saddled with the responsibility of revitalising ailing state government-owned enterprises.
The workers maintained that the revolutionary agenda was a right step in a right direction.
According to the TUC, the governor’s bold initiative was a demonstration of “his zeal and commitment towards job creation, industrial development and improved revenue for the state”.
Applauding the forthcoming Enugu International Investment Summit organised by the state government to showcase its rich business potentials to the world, the congress stressed that the economic programme was timely and expedient considering the drastic effects of the economic meltdown in the country.
“A summit that will attract huge foreign and local investors is what is needed to reposition the state as the prime state of the South-East”, the workers noted.
