In a swift reaction to the talk about Fulani herdsmen in a genocidal drive across the country, Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura has dismissed insinuations
that the attack on Agatu by herdsmen was genocide.
He made the comments Thursday when he paid a visit to Udeni Magaji
community in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state, which was recently invaded by fulani herdsmen.
Al-Makura urged the people to disregard such insinuations as according to him there was nothing like genocide but mere skirmishes
He said that the issue clashes between farmers and herdsmen is common in the in the country, saying people should disabused their minds over the alarm raised in some quarters that the issue was genocide.
It would be recalled that over 500 unarmed people have been killed in cold blood by Fulani herdsmen in Agatu communities in Benue state.
However, the Federal Republic of Nigeria is yet to issue any statement on the killings.
