UN Int’l University for Peace Sets Up First African Campus in Enugu State
The United Nations (UN) International University for Peace, University for Peace (UPEACE)
has approved the establishment of the first and only African Campus of the University in Enugu State.
The approval letter was presented to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Wednesday evening, at the EXCO Chambers of the Government House, Enugu, by the Head, Department of African Geo-politics, Geo-law and International Diplomacy, Europe Campus of the University in Rome, Prof. Edmund Ugwu Agbo, who was accompanied by one of the Masterminds/Visiting Professors of the international institution, Prof. Stella Ifeoma Inya-Agha.
The University for Peace (UPEACE) is an intergovernmental organization with university status, established by treaty at the United Nations General Assembly in 1980 and has its main campus in Costa Rica.
Its stated mission is “to provide humanity with an international institution of higher education for peace with the aim of promoting among all human beings the spirit of understanding, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, to stimulate cooperation among peoples and to help lessen obstacles and threats to world peace and progress, in keeping with the noble aspirations proclaimed in the Charter of the United Nations.”
