Covid 19: Yoruba Youth Leader Aare Dotun Hassan Demand Total Restriction of Movement for 30 Days.
In view of the hydraheaded pandemic of the Coronavirus global pandemic ravaging the world economy and capable of exterminating human existence from Asia, America, Europe, Australia down to the Pacific and Africa no one or nation is insulated from the “plague of death” called Covid-19.
It is in this line that the President of Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide, Aare Oladotun Hassan has in a statement issued an emergency warning and caution to President Mohammed Buhari to address a state of the Nation on Modus Operandi to aggressively curbing growing numbers of infected persons, alongside Council of States, Nigeria Governor’s Forum, National and State Assembly legislative houses to jointly commence joint task force to the effect of passing an emergency legislative and executive order on Covid-19.
He also urged the President to provide for adequate medical support, quarantined shelters and constant food supply that will further mitigate the consequential effect of the strict order on ‘Total Restriction Order’ on all human activities nationally for the next 30 days, while major health centres be upgraded to meet up with the impending storm of the pandemic.
“We call for proper mass daily media orientation and information and Education Communication materials and sign posters in all major languages on the decease control and safety measures.
“Our advise came upon the current fast-rising from the index cases now snowballing records of infected victims and deaths in Nigeria and globally, this is needful in order to acsertain the level of impacts and ensure treatment health care is provided in major Local Governments and Wards points of Emergency Health Centres Nationally.
“We equally call on Government at all levels: Federal, State, Local Government and Wards to the units and all Nigerians to disinfect their immediate environment, use alcohol base hand sanitizer (This should be mounted on all points markets, ATM, Banks, Motor Parks and other areas, usage of hand gloves, face mask is to be maintained, and further ensure effective compliance with the WHO social human distancing mechanism guidelines, as well as reduce all forms of movement in the next 30 days.
“We are aware of our proposed 2nd World Omoluabi Day Festivals & Awards slated for 1st May, 2020 at the Palace of the Ooni of Ife, Osun State, precipitating our resolution to maintain the next 30 days moratorium watching period in order to ascertain if the event will be reviewed and marked on a low key at each states levels via Online Live streaming media message of peace and hope from His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, The Ooni of Ife.
