Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has felicitated with renowned history scholar, Professor Abednego Ekoko, as he clocks 78 years on April 10.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, the governor said that Ekoko was an accomplished historian and boundary scholar whose contributions to the resolution of many boundary issues in Nigeria and Delta were sterling.
He noted that the former Commissioner in the state and also served as Sole Administrator of Delta State University, Abraka, had made outstanding contributions to the academia through his many scholarly articles and researches.
The governor remarked that as an authority in boundary matters, Ekoko remained an asset to Delta and Nigeria, “and therefore, deserves to be celebrated on his 78th birth anniversary”.
“Prof. Ekoko is a renowned historian and Professor of Boundary matters. He has continued to blaze the trail with his astute contributions to the resolution of boundary matters in Nigeria and Delta.
“As an illustrious son and elder Statesman from Delta, we are proud of his accomplishments in the academia and resolution of tough boundary disputes.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta, I join his family, the Isoko people and his Uzere kindred in celebrating a life of great laurels as he marks his 78 years birth anniversary.
“As a state, we owe him a great deal of gratitude for the roles he played in resolving several boundary issues within the state and we wish him many more years in health and contribution to nation building.” he stated.
Professor Ekoko, a former National Commissioner, National Boundaries Commission, The Street Reporters Newspaper gathered, is currently Executive Assistant to the Gov. Okowa on Boundary Matters.
