The Chief Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari is dead. He is to be buried today,  presidential sources say.

Multiple sources at the presidency confirmed the death.

Mallam Kyari recently tested positive for Coronavirus disease after his return from a trip to Germany.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina tweeted, “Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, passes on.

“May God rest his soul. Amen. Funeral arrangements to be announced soon.”

Mourning him,  the Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad tweeted, “Completely out of any word, so devastating. It is indeed very hard on us, but I strongly believe that we all belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.

“May Allah accept Mallam Abba Kyari’s shahada, forgive all his shortcomings, and grant him Jannatul Firdausi. #RIPAbbaKyari”.

The late Chief of Staff to the President will be buried in Abuja later today in accordance with Islamic rites.
