COVID-19 Lockdown: South East Group Hail Ugwuanyi, Security Agencies
Renowned pan-Igbo pressure group, the South East Revival Group (SERG) has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and security agencies over the enforcement of the state lockdown directives as part of measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus disease in Nigeria.
The President and National Coordinator of the group, Chief Willy Ezugwu, in a statement issued in on Thursday night, particularly hailed the commitment of Governor Ugwuanyi to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state and for personally monitoring the compliance with the lockdown directives.
The SERG also thanked security agents in the state for effective policing of the state and for their commitment to ensuring that interstate travellers and residents of the state comply to the anti-coronavirus measures by the government.
According to the statement made available to The Street Reporters Newspaper, the group said “the Nigerian Army at its checkpoint in Nsukka that intercepted over 30 vehicles loaded with interstate travellers and turned them back in compliance with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration’s preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection in the state is highly commendable.
“We also commend the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for showing leadership by example as he has always done, by personally monitoring compliance of the lockdown order in the state, particularly at border towns in the state”, the group stated.
