Controversy has continued to trail the relocation of traders at theĀ Akwatta Market, Enugu, the Enugu State capital.
There have been allegations that the land on which the market is sited has been sold.
However, the State Government has severally denied the allegations bordering on the sale of the market.
The Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area of the State, Hon.Ā Emeka Onunze, whose office is constitutionally saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the affairs of all markets in the council area has now explained the true situation of the market.
He has clearly stated he did not sell the market.
“I did not sell Akwatta Market, Enugu to anybody and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi did not ask me to sell the market to anybody” as mischievously alleged.
I”relocated the traders in Akwatta Market to enable my council rebuild the market to standard.
“Gov. Ugwuanyi is a very nice man; let us continue to support him”, he explained.
