Senator Ekwunife Eulogises Senator Joy Emodi at 65

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife has felicitated with Senator Joy Emodi as she turns 65.

Felicitating with Senator Emodi, who was a two time representative of Anambra North Senatorial District in the Senate, Ekwunife described the former Chairman Senate Committee on Education as one of the forebearers of women in politics.

She noted that Senator Emodi’s successes in politics and governance remains one of the turning points in the struggle to get women into elective positions.

Senator Ekwunife recalled with nostalgia how Senator Emodi won the People’s Democratic Party primaries for the April 12, 2003 election for the Anambra North Senatorial zone, and was declared the winner on 16 April 2003, winning later at the Tribunal and the Appeal Court after her declaration was reversed – an indication of her tenacity of purpose and zeal to contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s democracy.

Ekwunife lauded the celebrant for her continuous commitment and clamour for the involvement of women in politics and governance.

She noted that as a former female parliamentarian, Senator Joy Emodi has remained an active member of Nigeria’s Female Parliamentary Caucus, and has continued to contribute her quota to women development, empowerment and gender parity.

She prayed God to grant Senator Emodi many more years in good health, as well as prayed for more grace and wisdom upon her and her family.
