Kidnapped Edo Ex-Commissioner Found Dead by Police

A former Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Edo State, Mr. Presley Ediagbonya has been found dead by the Edo State police command. DSP Chidi Nwabuzor in a statement issued on Saturday confirmed that the lifeless body of the former Commissioner was found by some farmers in a forest at Utese, a village sharing boundaries with Ondo State.

It was learnt that the deceased was allegedly kidnapped by gunmen from his farm at Utese village, Ovia North-East LGA of the state on May 16th, 2020.

The statement read in parts: “Edo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that on Friday, the 29th of May, 2020 at about 6.30pm, the remains of Hon P. E. Ediagbonya, a former civil Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Edo State, was found by some farmers in a forest sharing boundaries with Ondo state at Utese village

He disclosed that the farmer reported the news to the divisional police headquarters, Okada, immediately and the DPO mobilized operatives to confirm the incident.

“Immediately, the DPO mobilized his men, contacted the medical team of Igbinedion University Okada, and moved to the forest, in company of the deceased’s family and the community people,” the statement added.

The Police Spokesman added that his body has been evacuated to Igbinedion University Hospital mortuary, Okada, for autopsy examination.
