ALGON National President Restates Need To Strengthen Local Governments As Breeding Ground For Examplary Leadership
Isoko South Local government area played host to top state and local government officials, NEC members, political associates, business moguls friends and family members amongst whom are the National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon Kolade Alabi David, his Deputy Hon Barr. Jega Rufai and some other key principal officers.
It was a thanksgiving and celebration of service excellence marking the end of a six years tenure of the former Deputy National President of ALGON, the ALGON rep of Delta and Executive Chairman Isoko South LGA.
In a thanksgiving Mass at Uro-Irri in Isoko South Local government area the home Hon. Ikpokpo, the officiating Catholic Priest Rev Fr Markanthony Nwoko of lagos Archdiocese thanked God for the privilege bestowed upon Ikpokpo and family during his Six years service.
He prayed God to continue to elevate him to greater heights.
At the reception venue, his country home, the National President of ALGON Hon Alabi Kolade David described Hon Ikpokpo as an illustrious asset to ALGON.
He said Hon. Ikpokpo’s wealth of experience and support have put the association on a better pedestal.
In his response, Hon Ikpokpo expressed optmism on the place of local government to national development and call for unity in the discharge of responsibilities before the association.
He thanked His Excellency Sen Ifeanyi Okowa for the confidence reposed in him. Ikpokpo further stated that ALGON as can be seen under Hon Alabi has yielded fruits through advocacy, peace building for a virile LG system.
In attendance were some principal officers of ALGON National, the AIG of Police Zone 13 M I HAFIZ alongside numerous members of Delta State Executive Council, some of the ALGON National Execo include the Deputy National President of ALGON Hon Jega the Nasarawa ALGON state rep counterpart Hon Aminu Maitafa, Niger state ALGON rep, Hon Gurara, Kogi, Hon Dagogo, Kwara rep. Hon Yinka Dallas, Ekiti Hon. Ropo, the Bayelsa ALGON rep as well as the newly elected Abia rep, and Barr Donald Ayibiowu.
The event validated the recent truce and reconciliation in ALGON with huge attendance of the former faction thereby further cementing the already established unity in the Association.
