John Mrabure Appointed NCoS Boss as Jaafaru Bows Out of Nigerian Correctional Service
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has gotten an Acting Comptroller General of the Service.
He is Deputy Comptroller-General of the NCoS, DCG John Mrabure.
John Mrabure, until his appointment, was in charge of the Human Resource Directorate of the NCoS.
He became a DCG in July 2019 when President Muhammadu Buhari approved the promotion of 10 senior officials of the paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior.
His appointment came following the expiration of the tenure of Comptroller-General Ja’afaru Ahmed whose tenure was
DCG Mrabure takes over from after the expiration of his twice extended tenure.
President Muhammadu Buhari had extended the tenure of Jaafaru for one year from July 21, 2019, to July 21, 2020.
However, the Minister of Interior, Engr. Rauf Aregbesola further extended his tenure for another 6 months, which expired on January 21, 2021.
Many watchers say the tenure of Jaafaru Ahmed witnessed innovative reforms in the prison service, including human rights compliance, infrastructural development, and welfare of staff and inmates.
The Minister of Interior, our correspondent gathered, approved the appointment of Mrabure in acting capacity as the most senior officer in the service.
Aregbesola is the Chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB)
The board oversee the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Federal Fire Service.
