Nsukka Shines at Veritas University

When the Catholic university, Veritas University rolls out their drums to award degrees and Honours to some deserving persons on Saturday in Abuja, Nsukka will stand taller than others.

The best and second best graduating students will all be Nsukka daughter and Son.

Cynthia Ifeoma Ugwuoke, who studied English and Literary studies at the prestigious university, a product of St. Catherine’s Girls’ Secondary School Nsukka, where she finished as the best English student in her set before proceeding to Veritas University Abuja.

In this year’s convocation she triples as the best graduating student in her department, faculty and one of the overall best students, bagging first-class honors with 4.92 CGPA.

The next best result in the whole school is also Nsukka son, a priest from Nsukka Catholic Diocese.

He is Rev. Fr. Augustine Emeka Ugwumgbo, who also bags first-class honors, graduating with 4.89 CGPA. This makes him also the second best graduating student from the faculty of humanities and the department of English and Literary Studies.

Another Nsukka son Petrus Ejike Eze from Ekwegbe in Igbo Etiti also emerged the best graduating student in the department of Mass Communication with 4.32 CGPA.

The pro-chancellor of the University incidentally the Chief Sherphard of Nsukka Diocese, Bishop Prof. Godfrey Igwebuike Onah who had sent nine brilliant Nsukka sons and daughters on scholarship to study in the University with two of them coming tops.

The others sent by the Bishop who also made good grades are: Mary-Jude Ngwoke (Nru, Microbiology), Ngozi Maureen Makata – (Imilike Ani, Biochemistry), Petrus Eze (Ekwedge, Mass communication), Boniface Onoyima (Okutu, Computer Science), Agada Martha (Igogoro Enugu-Ezike, Computer Science), Precious Chifulumnanya Okodi (Aku, Microbiology).
