Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State seeks the support of the Galaxy Backbone limited in achieving its policies and programmes, especially the ten year development plan through the provision of the digital infrastructure needed in the implementation of the 2021-2030 agenda.

The Governor who underscored the importance of technology and communication in the implementation of government policies and programmes, noted that a collaboration between the state and the outfit shall, in no small way help the state.

The Governor gave the indication when he declared open, a Northeast retreat of management of Galaxy Backbone limited at International Hotel Gombe.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau said societies willing to develop must take advantage of communications technology by aligning very well to its provisions towards development.

He appreciated President Muhammad Buhari for the appointment of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, a great personality of Gombe extraction, applauding the Minister for being truly an ambassador of Gombe state.

The Governor listed with pride and delight, the giant strides and contributions of the minister who has placed the ministry on pedestal of development, and has assisted the state through establishment of ICT hubs in the state University, Federal University of Kashere and in Dukku, Billiri as well as distribution of lap tops to youths among other things.

He urged the participants to take advantage of the retreat by giving their contributions and proffering solutions to the challenges militating against the sector for overall development of the nation.

In his remarks, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami explained that, when he came on board as minister, he met the Galaxy Backbone facing challenges of leadership, finance and infrastructure, but with the kind approval of Mr. President, over 90% of the issues have been arrested.

He stressed that the challenge is now thrown to the table of the management of the outfit to justify the investment and confidence reposed in them, by redoubling their efforts so that the objective and vision are achieved.

Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director, Galaxy Backbone Limited, Prof. Muhammed Bello Abubakar said, the choice of Gombe for the retreat was not only for its centrality, but also because Gombe provides the Serene environment and opportunities for brainstorming and collaboration.

He further explained that the retreat is to provide an opportunity for improvement on the performances of the Galaxy Backbone Limited in order to expand digital infrastructure of the country to meet challenges facing communication.
