The Director General of Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS), Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan alongside the Chairman Committee on Lands and Survey, Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Hamza Adamu have visited the GDP/16 layout in Gombe for an on-the-spot assessment.
They visit the site after receiving a complaint on “Distortion of Master Plan and Street Blockage” by Abubakar Habu Hashidu Estate Extension Forum, requesting the authority to intervene in checking the alleged distortion of the actual layout.
While investigating the cadastral map/layout of the location, the committee believes that the said rightful allottees distorted the initial layout, thereby embark erecting a fencing structure on the access road, which led to the complete blockage of the road.
The Director-General vows to stop distortion of layouts in Gombe state.
He says, the new land administration, under his watch will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the government allocated layouts are secured.
Hon. Shuaibu Adamu, (Member, Committee on Lands and Survey) suggested that the fencing work should stop, pending when the investigation would be completed.
He also recommended that parties involved should appear before the committee to ascertain the veracity of their claims that they acquired the plots through the appropriate channel.
Following the development, GOGIS decides to constitute a 7-Man Committee to audit the GDP/12, 16, 16A, 16B, 28, and 30 layouts and identify the overlap, distorted plots & access roads to ensure peace and ease access plus networking by the people of the community.
The committee with clear terms of reference (ToR) will soon be constituted to carry out the exercise, for the interest of the general public.
Comr. Mustapha Usman Hassan, Deputy House Committee on Lands and Survey was also present.
