Katsina State Deputy Governor Launches Hajj Saving Scheme

…Says It’ll Remove Stress from Intending Pilgrims

Hajj saving scheme has been described as a system that offers opportunity to intending pilgrims to save and plan for hajj without stress.

Katsina State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu said this while launching the hajj saving scheme introduced by National hajj commission in collaboration with Jaiz Bank and Katsina State government at the conference hall of Katsina pilgrims welfare board.

The Deputy Governor, represented by the permanent secretary, deputy governor’s office, Alhaji Aminu Abu bazariye,mni, said the scheme came at a time when COVID-19 pandemic has made things tougher and appreciate the efforts of NAHCON.

He noted that the system offers investment opportunities and no doubt the sensitisation campaign for hajj saving scheme was a veritable tool to fast tracking its
implementation.

The deputy governor also said the scheme was technology driven and the sensitisation campaign will serve as an arena to provide the much needed answers on its working methodology.

Alhaji Yakubu said the state government will continue to work hand in hand with the commission to key into the programme for the benefit of Muslim ummah in the state.

He revealed that already the state government had granted approval to the state pilgrims welfare board as requested by NAHCON to place the scheme under the newly established directorate of monitoring and evaluation.

The deputy governor also appealed to the management of NAHCON to resuscitate it’s zonal office in Katsina or an outreach center to be able to synergize and promote efficient service delivery and welfare of pilgrims.

Earlier, the national chairman of national hajj commission NAHCON Alhaji zikhirullah Kunle Hassan, represented by the commissioner northwest NAHCON Alhaji Garba Umar, said the hajj savings scheme was being implemented by NAHCON in collaboration with Jaiz Bank to assist intending pilgrims like workers ,traders herders and students save and plan for hajj over a period of time to fulfill the fifth piller of Islam.

He listed some of the benefits of the scheme to include, saving with ease and investment among others.

Hassan called on every one to enroll and be ambassadors of the scheme to the family members, colleagues, associate and neighbors and appreciate efforts of Katsina State Government.
