How Nnamdi Kanu’s Lack Of Tact, Strategy Imperilling Lives and Properties in Orlu, Others – South East APC Group
Says Everyone From South East is Biafran
National Coordinator of the South-East APC Presidency Project 2023, Dr. Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu has blamed the lack of tact and strategy for killings in Orlu and parts of South region.
In a statement on Friday, he insisted that “Biafra is a region of Nigeria, just as Arewa and Yoruba are regions of Nigeria. So everyone from South East Nigeria is a Biafran. No question about that.
“But whether Biafra should return to a sovereign state now is a different question altogether. We say “No”; we say that the frustrations that Nnamdi Kanu and others feel, the reason they answer “Yes” to that question, would be adequately addressed by President of Nigeria of South-East extraction in 2023.
“2023 is 2 years from now, and we must once again appeal to Nnamdi and his supporters to support emergence of that President of Nigeria of South-East extraction”, he said.
He then queried, “Meanwhile, does Biafra or South-East need security and a security network? Our answer this time is unequivocally “Yes”. So we share Nnamdi’s concern.
“However, having chosen the path of Biafran sovereign status and not having publicly changed his mind on that, Nnamdi should not have been the one to set up such a security network.
“But he did not just set up Eastern Security Network (ESN), he also proceeded to “order” the state governors of the Biafra region to buy into it – the same state governors that had proscribed his Indigenous Peoples of Biafra and with whom he has been at loggerhead. That was naive and provocative.
“Having said that, nothing justifies unwarranted bombardments of Orlu communities and killing of innocent members of those communities. The Nigerian military and police must immediately stop any form of offensive action in Orlu or any other part of the South-East.
“We also call on South-East governors to look at ESN design and see if it can be taken away from Nnamdi for effective security of the South-East region.
“If Nnamdi accepts our appeal for stoppage of his campaign for return of sovereign Biafra, he will be most welcome to join our push for a South Easterner to become President of Nigeria in 2023. His radio broadcasts would then have to shift its focus and agenda”, the statement concluded.
