NYSC Reacts to Reported Settlement of Bandits with Corps Members’ Stipends
The Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reacted to rumour making the rounds that corps members will be receive their February monthly stipend otherwise known as monthly allowance as the appropriated fund is being deployed to settle bandits.
The NYSC management, in its reaction to the reports, described the rumour as fake news.
It said it wished to alert members of the public, especially those on their national service “on the fake news currently trending, which states that Corps Members will be paid the February monthly stipend at the end of March, 2021, as the fund appropriated for the stipend had been expended on settlement of bandits.
“Management enjoins all to disregard in its entirety the story which is the handiwork of mischief makers.
“Management admonishes the originators of this falsehood to refrain from such criminal action. Corps Members are advised as always to only rely on information on the NYSC platforms.
“The welfare of Corps Members shall continue to be accorded top priority by the Scheme.
“Please stay safe and adhere strictly to COVID-19 protocols”, a public announcement issued by the NYSC Management read.
