Delta Resolves Rift Between SEEPCO, Ogbeani Community

Delta State Government has waded into the dispute between Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited, SEEPCO and Ogbeani community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.

The State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emman Amgbaduba, who resolved the dispute between the parties, at a meeting held yesterday (Wednesday) at Elomax Hotel, Asaba.

The Commissioner stated that all issues raised by the community were amicably resolved in the presence of the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Gladys Puegeren and the Director Local Content.

Amgbaduba said that the state was investment friendly and therefore encouraged investors to come to the state to invest, assuring of government’s cooperation and support at all times.

He thanked Governor Okowa for his support towards resolving the crisis between the company and the host community.

“Sequel to our intervention, all issues brought against the company have been resolved and the protest going on in the last three to four days have also been suspended while the gate that was locked has been opened.

“I must appreciate the action governor of Delta, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for his tremendous support towards resolving this dispute.

“Delta is a business friendly state and we are opened for business and that’s the single reason why we brought all parties together to settle them amicably,” Amgbaduba stated.

SEEPCO’s Vice President, Sandeep Singh thanked the state government for resolving the dispute and assured that his company would comply with the resolutions reached at the meeting.

Representative of Ogbeani community, Onwuka Festus Opute, commended the state government for the amicable settlement of the dispute and urged the company to always adhere to the terms of the agreement reached.
