…Passes Vote of Confidence on Sheikh Isa Ali Pantami
The National Executive Council members of the Gombe State Students’ Association (GOSSA) has passed a vote of confidence on Sheikh Isa Ali Pantami, the Minister of Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
The students were reacting to the recent happenings on social media platforms and the country at large regarding calls for the resignation of Sheikh Pantami in a statement signed by the National President of the student group, Aliyu Sa’ad Hassan.
According to them, the Minister has been “unfairly treated by some ill mannered people calling for his Resignation as the Honorable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.”
The grounds for the vote of confidence, according to the students, are that the Minister “had disowned his previous controversial comments. These are comments he made a long time ago which should not be used to judge because human opinion changes.
“Sheikh Dr. Isa Ali Pantami has been at the forefront of fighting terrorism through Information Technology. As such, claims of him being sympathetic to terrorists will no longer be justified.
“Sheikh Dr. Isa Ali Pantami has been a patriotic citizen who has earned Nigeria good reputation in the eyes of the world.
“Sheikh Dr. Isa Ali Pantami had good plans and initiatives for the betterment of Nigeria. As a matter of record, under him the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy has been one of the most active over the years, generating revenue to the Federal Government which hitherto were unrealised.
“Sheikh Dr. Isa Ali Pantami is an erudite Islamic scholar, an IT guru and a professional computer scientist”, the group said.
The students noted that their sympathies were with the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, “over the attempt by adversaries to drag the minister’s name notwithstanding that he had disowned his previous controversial comments.
“It is on this note that we, Gombe state students under the umbrella of Gombe State Students’ Association (GOSSA) National Body hereby declare our support with the Hon. Minister. We are convinced of his good plans and initiatives for the betterment of Nigeria”, the students said.
