The Character Media Network International has opened its 2021 Character Summit and Award ceremony in the Youth Centre, New Karu, Nasarawa State.
In his welcome speech, the Executive Director of the organisation, Amb. (Dr.) Victor Osadolor said “Ideally, our focus has been to stress on positive character reformation which is primarily aimed at restoring the lost degenerating moral values in our community and Nigerian society.“
According to him, “the vision came in Year 2005 and ever since then, we have seriously reach out to multiple stakeholders including people and institutions through series of activities involving organizing seminars, press conferences, symposium workshops and trainings including the use of publications such as books, leaflets, magazines to
address the gross moral decadence among the citizens in African nation.
“Perhaps there is a general phenomenon that plague us today and which is connected with the enormous hopelessness that provide the global society with the fate of can we overcome the present situation?
“Governments have equally contemplated on measures to minimize and eradicate corruption in different countries.
“This moves has been supported by the IMF. Recently the current administration in Nigeria advocated “change” with a focus to tackle one of the menace in Nigerian society which is Corruption. Know that why the institution grapple with the change approach, the official agency’s performance hasn’t be satisfactory.
“It is believed that they should be a search for appropriate and
effective ways to achieve results in line with the craving of the people.
“Going by the current aspiration, we desire to faster the cost of promoting
and celebrating Good character development in African society.
“In this sense, we wish to further give consideration to priorities that will enable the institutions,
appropriate agencies and the people to tackle the major constraints bedeviling character reformation crusade across the country”, Dr Osadolor said.
He added that the organisation plans to “reach the unreached, and to address messages to the grassroots level in the attempt to effect corrective measures on attitude change and leadership development to eradicate the menace as well as immediate proffering solutions for future
challenges.”
At the ongoing event, the Executive Director, Citizens Rights And Empowerment Advocacy Initiative (CREMA Initiative), Amb. Rexkennedy Saltlove is one of the nominees expected to be conferred a Character Award by the organisers.
Amb. Saltlove was nominated alongside other personalities, including Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, Rev. Father George Ehusani, Dr. Mrs Rachel Brassey Akpabio, Chief (Mrs) Rose Oriamran, among others.
Keynote speakers at the ongoing event include former Director General of NTA, Alhaji Yakubu Ibn Mohammed, Bishop Francis Wale-Oke and Prof. Mohammed Bello Shittu.
