Delta State Commissioner for Housing, Chief Festus Ochonogor, has led members of the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Women Development on an inspection tour of some ongoing star housing projects by the Okowa Administration in the state.

The sites visited included the residential and office complexes of the Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) and the Chief of Staff, the new Press Gallery and the almost completed State Secretarial Complex along the Maryam Babangida Way in Asaba, the state capital.

Chief Ochonogor noted that since both the SSG and the Chief of Staff were very key government officials, it was imperative that they have comfortable residences and office environment to work in, saying that the quality of work done in the complexes was very encouraging as the contactors had been living up to expectations.

At the Press Gallery, the housing commissioner said that the gallery had a sitting capacity of about ‪700- 1000‬ persons and noted that the delay in the project that was inherited from the previous administration was purely technical, adding that efforts were been done to ensure its completion soon.

Speaking on new secretariat complex, the commissioner said that the state government embarked on the project to ensure a conducive working environment for civil servants in the state, just as he affirmed that it would impact positively on their productivity.

Continuing, the commissioner said that would also save money, erstwhile spent on rented apartments as offices for the state government, just he said that the complex had necessary amenities, such clinic, bank, restaurant and many more, that would make it a comfortable working environment for the civil servants.

Ochonogor said that furnishing was ongoing, adding that the secretariat would be commissioned soon.
