2-Yrs After: Body of Missing Woman Found Buried Under Her Marital Home’s Bath Tub
For about two years, police authorities worked unsuccessfully to resolve the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a woman after a report by her husband.
However, the search for the South African woman, identified as Noluvuyo Ndema-Nonkwelo, ended in disappointment when her decapitated body was found buried under the bathtub of her marital home.
The search for her began when she was reported missing in July 2019.
The 34-year-old, who worked as an HIV/Aids lay counsellor at Dutywa Health Care Centre, was found dead in Vulindlela village on Monday, August 30.
She was said to have had a fight with her husband shortly before going missing.
The gruesome discovery of her dismembered body at her Vulindlela village home comes as the Eastern Cape is reeling in shock following a similar gruesome murder of one Nosicelo Mtebeni, who was killed in East London two weeks ago.
The full media statement by the South African Police Service Office of the Provincial Commissioner of Eastern Cape reads:
A 43-year-old male has been arrested yesterday for murder by Msobomvu police.
The arrest comes after a 34-year-old female was reported missing by her husband on 03 July 2019.
Ever since her missing report, investigation was conducted but it was unsuccessful.
Police were then alerted by a family member who was suspicious about the bath tub which was no longer mounted on the surface.
On investigation police proceeded to their home and found her remains under the bath tub in their house at Zingqayi Location, Butterworth yesterday, 30 August 2021.
The alleged suspect who is the husband to the deceased was immediately arrested and charged for murder.
He is due to appear at Butterworth Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
