Open Grazing Ban: SEG Commends Ugwuanyi, Enugu Assembly on Bill Passage
The leadership and members of the Save Enugu Group (SEG) have while commending the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration for standing with the people on agitation for modern trends in animal husbandry, hailed the passage of Anti-open grazing Bill into law by the Enugu State House of Assembly.
SEG, in a statement signed by its Convener and National Coordinator, Chief Willy Ezugwu on Saturday, noted that “the Enugu State government, under the headship of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has shown once again that the lives of the people matter.
“The Enugu State House of Assembly has earned the accolades of the people and must be commended by all Enugu State sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora.
While calling on other south eastern states to do the needful, the SEG urged the governors in the region “who want to tow the path of honour pass and sign the open grazing prohibition law to protect their residents and farmers from society disruption agents, masquerading as herdsmen.”
The passage of the bill by the Enugu State government was in line with the September 1 deadline issued by the Southern governors for an end to open rearing of cattle in the regions.
