In his relentless strive to turn Kogi State to infrastructural hub, the State Government under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello (fondly known as GYB), has turned the state into a construction site by investing hugely in the infrastructural facilities across the state to the admiration and commendation of entire Kogites and Nigerians at large.
This is even as the Project Monitoring Team of Ministry of Works and Housing, personally headed by the Commissioner, Engr. Abubakar S. Ohere, on Thursday, continued her statewide daily work inspection in the State Capital, Lokoja.
The construction sites visited on Thursday included the much talked about first interchange flyover Bridge in the state capital at Ganaja Junction; the Construction of Admin Block and renovation work at the Specialist Hospital; the ongoing replication of Eagle Square in the Confluence City – the Ultra modern civic centre at the heart of Lokoja metropolis; the embankment exercise of Lokoja Beach at Kpata; and the ongoing reconstruction of Lokoja Township Road from Paparanda Square to Nataco Junction.
According to the Commissioner, the essence of this continuous daily inspection visitation to construction sites across the state is targeted at ascertaining the progress achieved so far by the contractors handling the projects, vis a vis keeping to project specifications.
During the inspection routine, he commended the contractors where necessary; made critical observations; advised amendments in some places; and instruct total removal and immediate replacement with superior materials in some other sites with the aim of ensuring the projects not only meet the standard set by Governor Bello but also get the projects delivered within the stipulated time.
At the embankment site, Engr Ohere noted that Governor Yahaya Bello has put necessary measures in place to explore effective urban planning, developmental control, drainage designs, dredging, construction of drainage channels to put a total stop to the yearly menace of flooding within Lokoja metropolis.”
He equally reaffirmed GYB’s commitment to quality delivery of long lasting road projects that will stand the test of time, noting that constant desilting will prevent filling up of drains which may overflow into roads and subsequently shorten their lifespan.
“Governor Bello is more than determined and committed to making life, better for the citizen and residents of Kogi State through the provision of infrastructure that will catalyse economic growth, social change and an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in Kogi State”, Engr Ohere added.
