Head of Department of Mass Communication, Delta State University Abraka, Dr Joyce Ogho Ogwezi, will be the Chief Trainer at the 3rd edition of Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop, DELCOM 2021.

The three day workshop with the Theme “Communication Strategies in Democratic Politics: Challenges and Solutions in Propaganda/ Hate Speech Management,” will take place at Orchid Hotel, DBS Road, Asaba from 20th to 22nd December, 2021.

This years workshop shall be declared open by the Platinum Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa while a great icon of the Pulpit, Very Rev Fr Chris Ekabo, JP, will be in attendance as Spiritual Father of the Day to kick start the workshop with prayers anchored on full dose anointing for participants.

State Coordinator of the annual workshop and Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Communications, Chief (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP, disclosed that Dr Ogwazi is a high profile brand in the field of mass communication and Journalism education, with amazing wealth of experience spanning over two decades.

Okowa’s Eac, further posited that DELSU HOD Mass Communication shall in her capacity as the Chief Trainer of DELCOM 2021, direct the affairs of all training activities, to be assisted by Dr Don Pedro Agbonifo Obaseki, a renowned scholar and versatile political Communication strategist, as well as Dr Olubunmi Ajibade of Mass Communication Department, University of Lagos.

The scope of this year’s workshop, being third in the series since 2018, according to Eac Oghenesivbe, will also cover special practical training in news portal website designs and management, internet radio broadcast licences/operations and subscription management, news blogs, online newspaper publications, news and article writing as well as Radio and Television documentary production.

“We are delighted that Dr Ogwezi, will be attending Delcom 2021 as Chief Trainer. She’s got lots to offer and participants will be privileged to be trained by one of the best brains in the field of Journalism and mass communication.

“Apart from supervising all training sessions, Dr Ogwezi will specifically take participants through the vexed issues of misinformation and hate speech with emphasis on media crisis management strategies.

“The convener of the Mid-West Agenda and political communication strategists, Dr Pedro Obaseki, will have interface with over 100 participants on effects of bad governance occasioned by political propaganda and deception orchestrated by gladiators and elected representatives in constitutional democracy,” Oghenesivbe said.
