Ekwunife Bags ‘IFEKAOLAEDO’ Of Ukpo Kingdom Traditional Title
The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has been conferred the chieftaincy title of Ifekaolaedo by the clan head of Dunukofia Ancient kingdom and traditional ruler of Ukpo, HRM, Igwe Dr Robert Chukwudilim Eze (Okofia IV). The title is in recognition of her sterling and immeasurable contributions to humanity.
The colourful event which marked the 30th Ofala festival of the revered monarch was held at the palace on Saturday, December 18, 2021, and was graced by well-meaning Nigerians, dignitaries and business magnates, friends and families of recipients of titles amongst which were Governor of Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and PDP South East PDP Zonal Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa.
Speaking shortly after the conferment, Ekwunife said she felt grateful to God for the privilege that the good people of Ukpo community found her worthy to be one of the recipients of the titles, adding that the honour means a lot to her. The Senator appreciated the Igwe-in-council and the entire community for recognizing her efforts towards providing the best representation to the constituents.
On what the honour means to her, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation explained that it was an encouragement for her not to relent in being a strong voice on the floor of the senate, stressing that to whom much is given more is expected.
Continuing, the federal lawmaker celebrated her beloved husband, Chief Larry Ekwunife for being a pillar of strength and support towards her. She reassured of her commitment towards attracting projects and programmes that would improve the quality of lives of the good people of the zone.
Ekwunife further expressed gratitude to Nigerian oil mogul and CEO of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, Prince Arthur Eze for his humanitarian and philanthropic efforts in uplifting the downtrodden in the society.
Earlier, the traditional ruler of the community commended Ekwunife for her giant strides in the National Assembly. He said that the lawmaker has by her milestones in politics brought tremendous honour and development to the zone and Anambra state at large.
