Comrade Peter Andy Omeje Calls For Maximum Support To His Would Be Successor, Hon. Vitus Okechi

Comrade Peter Andy Omeje, the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government has called for a one hundred percent support for his would be successor, Hon. Vitus Okechi.

He made the call during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Local Gocernment Area (LGA) primary election held at the LGC multipurpose hall, Christened, Sir Dr. Emeka Enejere Hall, Ibagwa-Aka to elect the Chairmanship flagbearer of the party.

The occasion drew members from the eighteen autonomous communities in the LGA. The Hall was filled to capacity. It was indeed a gathering of who is who in Igbo-Eze South politics as far as PDP was concerned.

The formal election began by 3 pm and by 6 pm, it was all over with Hon. Vitus Okechi who was declared the winner and PDP standardbearer for February 23, 2022, Enugu State Local Government Election by the electoral umpire led by Barr. Christian Ani.

All the delegates were 370 while the accredited voters were 331 and 330 voted for Vitus Okechi while 1 invalid vote was recorded.

After the election, Comrade Peter Andy was full of praises to PDP members and electoral umpire for the peaceful way the election was conducted.

He also thanked His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for making the environment conducive for the election.

The election emphatically brought together all the PDP bigwigs in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area (LGA).

Speaking further, after the election, the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) Commissioner, Dr. Mrs. Benadin Ezugwu described the people of the LGA as peaceful and well organized.

She made a solemn promise that ENSIEC will conduct free, fair, and credible elections on 23 February 2022.

In his vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman of the Council & the runningmate of Hon. Vitus Okechi, Chief Hon. Ejike Amedu who stood in for Hon. Okechi (who had gone out on an urgent assignment), thanked members of the party, especially the delegates for voting enmass for the candidate.

He praised the leadership qualities of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Comrade Peter Andy Omeje, describing them as most wonderful people he had ever worked with.

In answer to questions from reporters, as to his message to his teaming supporters, Comrade Omeje said, “my message to my teaming supporters is that we are progressing from the LGA to the State.”

He added that they have a date with destiny and that, that destiny is orchestrated by God and implemented by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who, incidentally is a lover of the downtrodden, the rich and the poor but not excluding the oppressed which he represents.

Pressed further for his goodwill message to the people of the LGA, Comrade Andy added that he should be an embodiment of blessing to the LGA, particularly the less privileged, the people who do not have anybody up there.

He urged all to focus on God, believing in yourself, being sincere with whoever you have dealings with and heaven will announce you.

Earlier, Comrade Omeje had impressed everybody with a thought-provoking and awe-inspiring speech delivered extemporaneously, which kept drawing a thunderous ovation from party faithfuls while it lasted.

Our correspondent observed that the council Chairman’s followers couldn’t be less proud of their leader as his speech was one of great speeches of leaders to be remembered for a long time to come.

“Saturday, 15 January 2022 is truly like any other Saturday except that the LGA or more specifically, Ibagwa-Aka, has given Enugu State a great son, an orator that, in a short space of time, will be compared among the oratory of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Dr. Chuba Okadigbo.

“There is no doubt that the people of the LGA will soon feel the true phenomenon of Comrade Peter Andy Omeje as he gambols into political space like a colossus.

“The speech which I consider as valedictory and simple in nature, touched many issues that affect the LGA”, a supporter observed.

At the end of the speech, the politicians were seen embracing each other and thanking the great Comrade for a job well done.

Some dignitaries who were at the occasion include Dr. Pat Asadu, Chief host, Comrade Peter Andy Omeje, Hon. Emeka Madu, the arrow-head, Hon. Vitus Okechi, Chief Hon. Ikeje Asogwa, Chief Hon. Ejike Amedu, Hon. Princess Chinwendu Ogbonna, Dr. Fide Odo, Hon. Erochukwu Ugwueze, Hon. Christopher Omeje, Hon. Dominic Ezema, Hon. Emeka Ajogwu, Barr. Emeka Ugwuerua, Hon. Tony Udeaya. Hon. Jonathan Emmanuel, Dr. Maxi Asogwa, Hon. Dr. Okey Eze.

Others were Hon. Barr. Christian Ani, Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Kelechi Madu (SP), Director, State Security Service, Mr. Arum, Chief Prisca, Hon. Ignatius Odo, Hon. Okey Ukwueze, Hon. Obiora Aleke and several other important personalities.
