Ekwunife Celebrates Archbishop Valerian Okeke’s 20th Episcopal Anniversary
— Attends Archdiocesan Commemorative Thanksgiving Mass
The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, Friday, February 11, 2022, joined the entire Catholic faithful of Archdiocese of Onitsha and dignitaries from all strata of society to attend the 20th episcopal anniversary of Archbishop Valerian Okeke.
The Thanksgiving Mass to commemorate the anniversary which was held at Holy Trinity Basilica, Onitsha was officiated by the representative of Pope Francis, Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi and graced by the governor of Anambra state, HE Willie Obiano, former governor of Anambra state, HE Peter Obi, senator representing Anambra South, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah amongst others.
In his sermon, the Catholic bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Most Rev. Godfrey Onah eulogized the virtues of the Archbishop Okeke, stressing that the celebrant is a man of gratitude. He reminded the congregation that Jesus [shepherd] laid down his life for his people [sheep] to have life in abundance.
The bishop further urged Christians never to be tired of giving thanks to God, for God is never tired of blessing his people.
Speaking to the press, Ekwunife expressed that Archbishop Okeke has been a very good servant of God and a respected bishop in Nigeria. She noted that the Archbishop’s episcopal stewardship has recorded tremendous progress, success and development in the Archdiocese.
Continuing, the federal lawmaker said that the celebrant has in his episcopal sojourn exhibited a great deal of love for God and the church, praying for many more years of his service in the vineyard for God’s people.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation further on behalf of his family and good people of Anambra Central Senatorial District extended congratulations to Archbishop Okeke and the entire Archdiocese.
