Kogi Shea Butter producing unit has called on Kogi Enterprise Development Agency, KEDA to support its production with equipment that will boost the production of shea butter for economic purposes.
The group coordinator, Mrs Joyce Atawodi made this call during a courtesy visit to the management of KEDA.
Atawodi affirms that, shea butter contributes immensely to the existence of the human race as its usefulness can not be over emphasized.
“The essence of our visit today is to let you know that we have been in existence since 2015. Since then, we have witnessed low productivity due to lack of recognition and financial assistance from relevant authorities, despite putting our meagre resources together to ensure continuity and gain recognition like we did in 2019 where we came 2nd runner up in Shea butter production”, she stated.
She stated some of the union’s challenges as that of logistics, paucity of funds, lack of mechanised machinery to aid production, and shea butter being a natural, God-given, beautiful and miraculous oil needs to be maximised to boost quantity and quality.
She further added that “shea butter serves economic purposes; its wastes can be processed into soap, fertilizer, shea cake, which becomes an export product that international markets demands in high quantities”.
Earlier in her remarks, the KEDA boss ,Hajiya Rekiya Sanni reiterated the Yahaya Bello led administration’s resolve to assist business owners in the state as this is in line with the interest of the government – which forms his third priority in his agenda
She appreciates the group for the immense work they have been doing and assured them of KEDA’s partnership and support to strengthen their activities in boosting the economy of the state.
It is worthy of note that the agency has continued to interface with business owners in the state towards providing support for businesses that have suffered set back as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
