Breaking News: Yoruba Youths Pay Homage to Olubadan-Elect, Present Magazine

It was a thing of joy today, Friday, 4th March, 2022, at the Palace of Olubadan-Elect, Oba (Dr) Mahood Olalekan Balogun (Alli Okunmade II), at Alarere Area, Iwo Road, Ibadan, when the leadership of Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba, Grand Council of Yoruba Youths, led by Aare – Apapo, President – General, Comrade AWA Bamiji, paid him a homage.

In his speech, Comrade AWA Bamiji said he was so glad, being the House of Representatives’ Aspirant for Oluyole Federal Constituency under the Action Congress (AC) in 2007, to see his Political Leader and 1999 Senator of Oyo Central, mount the throne of Olubadan – Elect. He prayed for the success of the coronation coming up next week Friday, 11 March, 2022, and that of his reign, wishing him long life and prosperity.

He therefore pledged their unflinching support and unalloyed loyalty to the royal father, after handing over their congratulatory letter and a copy of maiden edition of the Insight Magazine inaugurated in December 2002 at Western House, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State, in commemoration of a year anniversary of late Anthony General and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige, SAN, who was gruesomely murdered on Sunday’s night, 23rd December 2001, at his residence in Bodija, Ibadan.

He went further to enumerate his Group’s achievements, recorded under his able leadership and on behalf of Oyo Central Senatorial District, in terms of staging late Chief Bola Ige annual memorial Symposium since 2002 till date; celebration of Alagba Adebayo Faleti @ 80, in conjunction with the Broadcasting Corperation of Oyo State (BCOS) in 2011; mobilisation of various Organisations and some key Participants to the Yoruba Summit organised by the Yoruba Summit Group under the leadership of Dr Kunle Olajide, Secretary, Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) and the event was chaired by Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, on the 7th September, 2017, which was held at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan; mobilisation of several Organisations and some strategic Participants to the Development Agenda of Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission Security Summit, held at Ogunlesi Hall, opposite University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on the 25th January, 2019, and that of the installation of Otunba Gani Adams as 15th Aare Ona – Kakanfo, held at Durban Stadium, Oyo town, on the 13th January 2018, and so on.

This sparked emotional reaction from Kabiyesi, as lover of Culture and tradition, who promised to continue keeping this promising youth Group jealously for the growth and development of his kingdom and that of Ibadanland at large. He prayed fervently for the Group’s continued chain of successes.

The members noticed with special interest the laudable input of the entire Staff of the the Palace, particularly the Son of Kabiyesi, being a Youth, in making this historic meeting a huge success through his excellent protocol service and it was highly appreciated by the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths.
