2023: An Open Letter of Invitation to All APC Yoruba Presidential Aspirants to Attend Yoruba Unity Agenda Meeting

2023: Open letter of invitation to all APC Yoruba Presidential Aspirants (6 in number) to attend Yoruba Unity Agenda meeting coming up in Ibadan, Southwest Political Headquarters.

Dated Friday 28th April, 2022.

2023 Yoruba Presidency: Open letter of invitation to all APC Yoruba Presidential Aspirants (6 in number) to attend the Yoruba Unity Agenda meeting which is convened by the Yoruba Unity Agenda Committee and to be hosted by Olubadan of Ibadanland, slated to hold in few days to come in Ibadan.

Our attention has been drawn to the fake news, “Southwest Leaders to meet Tinubu over Osinbajo’s ambition”, report making the rounds on social media and being carried by some reputable media Organisations as well.

There is no Committee of Southwest Leaders headed by Gen. Alani Akinrinade (Rtd) in existence at all, not to talk of it making effort to convince the National Leader of All Progressives’ Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to step down for the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo’s aspiration, because it will be win – win for both of them at the end of the day.

While will commend any good move to bring our Southwest Political Gladiators together in love, especially the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) Presidential Aspirants in Yorubaland, it is also important that such move must be balanced, objective, consultative and highly acceptable to the generality of People.

Therefore, we must at this stage recognize various reconciliation efforts that had commenced before now, from various Groups and Individuals, most especially from the traditional sector, which was led by our 2 highly respected Royal fathers, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, JP, CFR, LLD, and Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Alaafin of Oyo and Ooni of Ife respectively.

To this regards, we Yoruba Youths, after due consultation with Elders, came up with this proposed Yoruba Unity Agenda Committee list to bring together in love the following Yoruba Presidential Aspirants, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governor Kayode Fayemi, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Rt (Hon) Dimeji Bankole and Pastor Tunde Bakare ahead of May 30 All Progressives’ Congress (APC) Presidential Primaries.

The original list of the Committee members: Gen Alani Akinrinade (Rtd) (Yoruba Assembly), Alaafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu (Yoruba Unity Forum), Dr Kunle Olajide (Yoruba Council of Elders), Prof Bolanle Awe (Yoruba Elders, Women wing), Prince Tajudeen Olusi (Yoruba Elders, men wing), Comrade Awa Bamiji (Yoruba Youths)

Unfortunately, we lost Alaafin of Oyo last Friday to the cold hands of death at Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado – Ekiti, Ekiti State. Therefore, it is unanimously agreed upon that His Royal Majesty, Oba (Sen) Dr Mahood Olalekan Ishola Balogun (Alli Okunmade II), Olubadan of Ibadanland should take over from him as the Host of this historic meeting, simply because he is not only from Oyo State like late Alaafin of Oyo but he is also the present Olubadan of Ibadanland, the Southwest Political Headquarters, where the meeting will take place, and Kabiyesi had since swung into action to host this august gathering accordingly.

The Yoruba Unity Agenda meeting has now been convened by this noble Committee and to be held in few days to come amidst tight security in Ibadan, Southwest Political Headquarters. To this end, each Yoruba Presidential Aspirant will need to kindly liase with us at the Secretariat regarding the venue, time and date, all of which we won’t disclose until when the Communique of the meeting is ready to be made public in the interest of peace within the Yorubaland. This mission is in line with our vision or Group’s motto, “Omode Gbon, Agba Gbon, …”
