What we have long suspected has at last come out in the open. In South-East APC Presidency Project 2023, we laboured and sacrificed over several years advocating and pushing for emergence of President of Nigeria of South-East extraction on APC platform.

When we did not get the needed support of prominent South-East APC leaders, including the Governors, National Assembly members, Ministers, other Government appointees and party leaders, we suspected that they were up to something sinister, notwithstanding their very occasional and feeble mouthing of what they mischievously and deceitfully called “Igbo presidency”.

But to those of them who think they can play God, they should remember their misadventure in Edo, Anambra, AMAC-Abuja, etc. They certainly are not all-knowing and all-powerful. Support for a Northerner of any party to succeed President Buhari is evil.

Only selfishness and treachery can be behind any Southerner supporting that betrayal of Nigerians, after even Southern Governors had consistently warned against Northerner-Northerner succession.

That any South-Easterner can be seen working against emergence of President of Nigeria of South-East extraction in 2023, when most of the rest of the country have bought into that our long agitation, defies all Nigerian patriotism, morality, commonsense and logic.

Our appeal to Governor Hope Uzodinma, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, etc is to retrace their unwise unpatriotic steps by supporting a South-Easterner to win APC presidential primary election. It is not too late for them to escape harsh judgement of 2023 history.

Individuals of South-East extraction who cannot become President of Nigeria in 2023 for their personal reasons must not spoil the presidential aspiration of other South-Easterners and present that treachery as some kind of political wisdom. It is not, nor is it patriotic in any way.

Sociocultural and politico-economic leaders of South-East, South-South, South-West and Middle Belt cannot be fighting for South-East to produce President of Nigeria in 2023 while few South-Easterners are singing a different tune. How would that disgraceful 2023 story of another 1999 be repeated?

Finally, good people of Nigeria from all six geopolitical zones, we plead with you not to give up on your support for the South-East to produce President of Nigeria in 2023, regrettable shenanigans of few South-East renegades notwithstanding. Please ignore or dismiss them and their habitual antics.

We enjoin you to remain supportive and even increase your support of any South-Easterner of your preference to become President of Nigeria on any party platform in 2023.
