Search For Deputy Governor Shouldn’t Be Contentious As the Pair Of Prince Bassey Otu And Owan Enoh Is APC Jugular To PDP’s Defeat In Cross River
“Prince Otu Must Stand Up To Be Counted To Rekindle The People’s Dwindling Confidence.”
I am not just an intellectual public writer with in-depth analysis on both religious and circular matters of general interest including politics as people do classify me at times.
This is so because of the displayed in all my essays concerning the profound things of the Lord in creation, and man’s shenanigans and political savvy, maybe, or maybe not, yes, but I am also an Oracle.
Those who shirk away from my thought-filled political advice due to the usual collusions against great men by nincompoops and opportunists, political or otherwise, hoping and wishing to reap where they did not sow, do so at their peril. Mine is to deliver the message.
I don’t look for credit from man but the Lord. Nevertheless, earthly credit does not leave me after all. I am working on my incantation.
I do my utmost in whatever I set on doing regardless of the gains attach, which enables me to say the truth, the whole truth, against the status quo, and I relent not nor compromise my stands on integrity and empathy as the bedrock to stimulate unity and brotherhood in society.
I doubt if anyone in the state today has an audience both on Facebook, WhatsApp, and the different online newspaper and Platforms around the country as I do, where my articles are been read weak in, weak out as of today. I write for free.
I am a features writer and Columnist on numerous Platforms across the country including but not limited to the AYADE ADVOCATE and many local platforms of its kind scattered in the state where I appear to be the most regular guess writer there, with articles sent to it weakly with a large readership including the outgoing state Governor and many other personalities innumerable to be mention here. I feel fulfilled.
I hear some persons acting unilaterally are trying to bring something they dubbed “PRINCE OTU ADVOCATE”. Another Advocate? That is not necessary and would have a monotonous outgrowth.
Now is leading to general campaigns where shots come from every angle, mostly blackmail. Prince has not formed a Government yet. You do when a Government is formed and people with sympathy for the government go there to praise or read what is new about the Government.
What we’re to do is to design a method of attack garnished with stories to convince the electorate peculiar to us and one to shoot down unwanted and misleading messages against our candidate, Prince Otu.
The opponents will not send stories in ADVOCATE. You do not give an impression that suggests to the general public, a restriction permissible only to those who have your interest.
You short-circuit the vision and mission at the same time. Stories during the electioneering period are expected randomly. Leave that to the experts who started the game and the know-how to carry on. We’re not to report the news. We make news.
We create and defend our candidates over a broad spectrum of what we have been doing for over a year now consistently, contending with emerging tales and frivolities. There must be a central point from which this various advocacy would be coordinated for effective results.
I am about to set that up soon with the various online Newspapers and bloggers with whom we’ve been working on Prince Otu’s project over time. The more of those who can make input on any aspect towards the success of Prince Otu, the merrier.
I suggest those who want to join the bandwagon on Prince Otu media, do so constructively, and professionally, and not misinform the public to impress. What at this time, do you want to advocate for, if I may ask? There is an advocate platform ongoing. The shouldn’t be duplications.
It is quite appropriate to be alarmed by the actions of Senator John Owan Enoh against the party’s candidate, Prince Bassey Otu, during and after the party primaries.
I too was taken aback by the blunders as the result of anger, exhibited by Owan whose trojan political consistency, I do admire, had taken him to where he is politically today.
Truth be told, We, in the camp of Bassey Otu, lean as we were then, would have done worse things to anyone who had dared to short-change the Prince.
Considering what we’ve gone through to keep the party afloat, same as John, without defecting as most people do out of impatience and inordinate demands to get everything to themselves at once and at all times.
Which was why these persons in anger, left their mother party the PDP in droves and came over to APC, still holding firm to themselves as a renegade group fighting to take over and own what they didn’t create out of greed under the cover of “one man” to surreptitiously eliminate everything on sight even the best of what they came to meet In their new-found party, “as a no-good”, to entrench themselves and grab everything and leave the owners prostrate from enjoying the benefit of the so-called union only for the victims who have suffered various injustices from their partiality, to be called up for peace settlement through an already programmed committee of their men, set up to talk to the grieved persons without giving them their due. And you call those politics?
We, the ardent supporters of Prince Otu would, as a follow-up to our actions have traced the background history of whoever they would’ve brought in place of our candidate right to his day of birth and twirled it into a blackmail stunt, never seen anywhere.
That was the mode and determination of the group, should anything untoward have happened to the Senator from the South.
This is why Owan Enoh’s actions howbeit against our candidate both of whom are old APC members slated for extirpation by our mindless new partners from PDP; can be excused, as it could have been us. Thank goodness, it didn’t ensue.”
The result of the recent Governorship primaries in Cross River, was the true reflections of the mode and minds of the delegates. Different people took to their desired aspirants but we chose to stick with Otu.
Besides the rejuvenated large following and endorsement of the current candidate of APC, Prince Bassey Otu controls; which is the resonance of his record of tenderness placed at the disposal of those who seek and got help from him, like the Jagaban of Lagos who is now our Presidential candidate.
No one amongst the APC aspirants for Governorship and pretenders alike, today, has the conceded crowd, capacity, and the tested approach at a similar election the magnitude of what we are going to meet further, to creating upsets at those elections in both the Central and Northern Senatorial Districts of the state to give Prince Otu a win other than the now accused Senator John Owan Enoh. He should be sorted after and allowed to accomplish that task.
There is no pretension about that. It will not only ease the unnecessary uncertainty and gloomy atmosphere occasioned by rumors of this and that but would guarantee security for those old members who are gradually drifting away out of discontent who were in different camps, to come back to fully participate in the campaigns.
Anyone who alludes to the claim of doing more of what Senator John Owan Enoh is capable of, and can do in the Central Senatorial District is a liar. And lies can’t make us win in the forthcoming election against the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), especially in the Central Senatorial District, sentiments apart.
Let’s tell ourselves the home truth and be at rest at least for once, for the Lord to do the rest through the public acceptability of our candidate who is capable to stand on his own.
The voting public has put our demands on a scale. We must endeavor to give them something new to think about, not avoidable wranglings.
And Prince Bassey Otu represents that new thing. We should please allow him to showcase himself to rekindle trust. That’s what the people want to see.
The constant mention of the outgoing Governor in this matter is to me, suspect and creates more damage than being an advantage owing to current public perception.
The Outgoing Governor we know has a very important role to play in this project now that a candidate of the party had emerged to navigate a smoothly new part and partnership with the people.
It is the inalienable right of the Governorship candidate of the party to decide who becomes his running mate. The party and stakeholders are only there to make input and not the other way around.
This intimidation of Senator Prince Bassey Otu should cease. He is not the first person to become a candidate of a party through the protestation and upholding of a zoning process by the existing leadership of that party. It was of necessity.
And Prince Otu’s emergence is the best that has happened to both the current government and the APC in cross river. He should be allowed to breathe fresh air. The interference and threats are now taking a primitive dimension.
We cannot be talking to the Lord for intervention at the same time, acting man. Is a contradiction with consequences.
I have suffered to keep this project going consistently from inception without compromises from various quarters to derail the course for pecuniary gains.
I turn my longstanding defense of our beloved President, General Mohammadu Buhari all of a sudden, into the defense, promotion, and propagation of Senator Prince Bassey Otu’s candidacy when these same PDP members now in APC came to stop me for no just course, after all, I have given in proving myself through countless articles as the best man to handle the office of National Publicity Secretary of our great party, the APC on merit, way before these persons defected into the party.
As a follow-up on their grip and superiority against the old APC members of which I happened to be one, the state in her wisdom opted instead for the position of National Woman Leader and not National Publicity Secretary just to thwart my effort of attaining that height simply because I was not one of them. And you call those acts politics?
No one, in all modesty, has engaged and influenced the reading public including the current leadership of the party and the state government concerning Prince Bassey Otu’s suitability for this job as I do, through my weekly analysis of thought-provoking articles where I rendered other opinions in the matter prostrate for lack of content each blessed week on different platforms.
This is why I grimace when I see an act that would bring failure steering one in the face, simply because some persons of PDP (2), despite glaring facts, are still insisting to have their way to implant persons uniquely disastrous, where they can’t produce the expected result. I get mad.
Show me a victorious Governorship or Presidential candidate of any political party in an election, and I will show you a strategically sensitive, politically viable, courageous, and politically entrenched deputy behind such an accomplishment, be it here in Nigeria, America, or elsewhere in the diaspora that practices Democracy as a rule and method of government in the world.
The entire business of attracting support has now shifted from the tiny party caucuses to the voting public who are the electorate. They have completed their primary mandate of selection of candidates.
The atmosphere has changed dramatically from party to party candidate. His ability to take charge makes a difference.
Nobody talks now about the incumbent. In some states incumbents are liabilities. The candidate of the parties where rift exists, are the ones who now take the initiative to crave success for themselves.
Not until the party flag bearer, Prince Otu himself, and not any Committee set up for that, calls the aggrieved old members of the party like himself and assures them of getting in the future after the electoral victory, what their present oppressors from PDP, have enjoyed over the years and are still getting from their master, they can’t be true reconciliation.
After all, whichever committee they may want to be set up for such purposes will certainly be composed of their members for sure. Explanations will hardly explain anything when people already have their opinions on the matter.
They don’t relent, preach as you can, and complain from now to their kingdom come, but the situation remains the same in cross river APC. It is none of their business. And you still call that unity, baba?
Prince Bassey Otu should be encouraged to address the matter himself at this point and other matters that affect his chances of winning the forthcoming elections in the state urgently and in such a manner that would inspire and encourage the aggrieved trampled old members of the party at every level of which he is one, to shield their swards to guarantee his victory as well as that of other members against its close rival, the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in the coming election, in the year of the Lord, 2023.
Failure to do so, I am afraid, would spring up an unimaginable and uncontrollable proposition of discontent as “these” are determined to my hearing, to rock the boat, if they perish, they said, so be it.
As a follow-up to that, he should be allowed to call Senator John Owan Enoh on his own and let them talk things over devoid of any committee. Such a committee will serve no purpose.
The two men are those who sacrificed to keep the party and members alive. They know what it took to come this far and the grievances.
If Owan Enoh is not inclined to be his Deputy he will be willing to now make commitments to work to deliver the Central wholeheartedly, while Chief Chris Agara should now be made the Deputy bring back political life to the Central Senatorial District.
Presently as it stands, the current state Governor together with the state party Chairman is from the Northern District of Cross River. Let them jointly deliver the North to the party. That is what we want.
The next other senior political offices namely that of the incoming Governor, including the Deputy Governor, should come from the South and Central Senatorial Districts to create balance in the polity.
The post of Speaker of the state House of Assembly can now go to the Northern District which is going to lose the position of their son being the current Governor who is outgoing. There is no ambiguity in such graffiti. What politics are we playing?
The Central must have one with an effective structure like Senator John Owan Enoh does or someone with money enough to meet the challenges like Chief Chris Agara who came next to Owan in the primary elections.
Every other permutation to undermine that truism is sinister and prone to fail especially when it carries the signature of those the citizens have earmarked as anti-people, based on their tested records of performance that fell short of their expectations. The entire cross-river people need a change from the past. And anything that has a semblance of the past, they abhor.
It didn’t just take mere popularity for the former Governor of cross river state His Excellency Mr. Donald Etim Duke to win the Governorship election in the state. And it won’t be so now. Many sad moments ensued with many unpalatable incursions went into it.
The so-called Atam block against an Efik candidate just like the disguise forces against Prince Otu’s success today, then, was unrelenting. In Governorship politics, however, the only person you term an enemy proper is the one who claims to be a political guru but has nothing to offer to enhance your success in a given election.
According to Duke, when his friend Senator Liyel Imoke hinted at the possibility of getting Late John Oyum Okpa of blessed but sad memories through Alhaji Atiku Abubaker, to help them overcome the hurdle ahead in the elections, he didn’t hesitate to lunch and leverage on the idea. Late John Okpa was sort after and brought into the team at all cost to their ego, and made a Deputy enable Duke to win.
Without Late John’s structure in the Central and part of Northern Senatorial District with people like Senator Greg Ngaji and others of late John’s men, all we did with Donald being a very popular candidate just like Prince Otu today, would have been a colossal waste of time. The Ukpos, Ogban Ebok, and co. would’ve overrun us.
No one for purposes of winning an election in the face of a keen and delirious opposition the type the PDP is poised to put forward during and after the election, ever takes who or where the “deputy” comes from for granted, or toy with such a politically sensitive excursus if they’re desirous of winning especially where you find one in such party; like in the case we have now in Cross River APC, would be disastrous if we fail to do the right things or take the right step no matter what it will cost provided it guarantees us a win for the party’s candidate in the race. I speak as an Oracle of the Lord and I lie not nor squirm.
