Tinubu: APC National Legal Adviser, Daniel H. Bwala Resigns
The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Legal Adviser Daniel H. Bwala has resigned over the choice of a Muslim, Kashim Shettima in Muslim-Muslim Presidential ticket for next 2023 presidential election by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
His resignation came after the announcement of Senator Kashim Shettima, the former Governor of Borno State under Goodluck Jonathan administration, as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the ruling party.
He was Governor when Chibok schoolgirls were abducted in Borno State. He was said to have turned down a letter by then Minister of Education, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the incumbent Governor of Rivers State, to relocate students to a safer place to write their exams.
While unity schools students were relocated by the Federal Government, students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, a Christian dominated community, were left without adequate security leading to their abduction.
Shettima, an APC Governor then, a Muslim by faith, will be running alongside Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Presidential flagbearer of the party who is also a Muslim.
Their ticket has immediately attracted attacks from a cross-section of Nigerians who contended that such ticket is insensitive to the religious composition of the country.
In a post shared on his Twitter account, Daniel H. Bwala announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect.
He wrote: “Tonight I officially resigned my membership of @OfficialAPCNg on principles and conviction that I hold so dear. At this time of our national existence, our efforts amd energy should gravitate towards uniting our people.”
