Detained 247UREPORTS Publisher Ikenna Ellis Ezenekwe Regains Freedom 11 Days After

After eleven days in Police custody without trial, Nigerian journalists and 247UREPORTS publisher, Ikenna Ellis Ezenekwe, has been released.

The journalist who was arrested on July 5, was released on July 15, 2022.

According Ikenna Ellis Ezenekwe, the police is still holding his phone in custody.

“Glad to be free from the clutches of the Nigerian police and Nigerian politicians.

“I was held for 11 days from July 5 to July 15. Freed on July 15, 2022.

“But the Nigerian police held on to my phone. They are still with my phone.

“But I opted to get a new line.

“I thank the Almighty for my freedom”, he said.

At the time of his arrest, reports said that Mr. Ikenna Ellis Ezenekwe was whisked away in a commando style by some plain clothed policemen who refused to disclose to him reasons behind his arrest before taking him to the police headquarters at Louis Edet House, Abuja.

The 247UREPORTS publisher was arrested on the orders of a politician, based on a petition against him by one Chief Primus Odili, an Aide to former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, over an alleged ‘libelous’ publication he (Ezenekwe) wrote and published on May 13, 2022.
