Lagos based freelance photojournalist, Adekola Bamigbala, has reportedly been languishing in Ikoyi Prison for weeks. He is said to have been arrested and detained for alleged manslaughter after an alleged incident involving him and some LASTMA officers.

They are appealing to well meaning Nigerians, including members of the media, to wade into his case and help to secure his freedom.
In August 2013, there was a viral report indicating that Bottom Belle singer, Omawumi Megbele whose stage name is Omawumi got Adekola Bamigbala beaten to a pulp while carrying out his lawful duty.
The photojournalist was said to had attempted to take pictures of Omawumi, but little did he know that danger was lurking around for him, as the singer allegedly pounced on him, snatched his camera and dealt him heavy quick punches.
