Katsina State Govt Outlines Key Areas To Assist Widows, Orphans Affected By Banditry, Insurgency

Katsina State Government has outlined key areas to assist widows and orphaned children affected by banditry and insurgency in the state.

The state Deputy Governor, QS Mannir Yakubu, who is the chairman of executive committee on the improvement of welfare of orphans and widows of victims of banditry, cattle rustling and insurgency, said this when he held a meeting with representatives of victims support fund set up by TY Danjuma.

Alhaji Mannir Yakubu noted that the key areas include education, healthcare, trade, skills acquisition and food supply, among others.

He revealed that already the committee has identified the beneficiaries and the kind of support to be given.

He appreciated the concern of victims support fund and welcome all possible support.

The victims support fund team led by Alhaji Usman Isyaku, Tarnon Katsina, has a number of NGOs working together.

He explained that already an interactive session has been scheduled to hold between the VCF and MDAs, NGOs and religious bodies this week.

Present at the meeting were the Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gojo Gojo and Permanent Secretary Deputy Governor’s office, Alhaji Aminu Abu Bazariye among others.

In her remarks, the state coordinator WRAPA Hajiya Adama Sule Bakori, expressed readiness to work for the betterment of women and children victims of bandtry.

Also speaking the programme officer of Sulhu Development Initiative, Malam Abubakar Babangida, restated determination to work with VCF to achieve the set objectives of assisting the victims of insurgency and banditry in the state.
