Jinx broken As Federal Treasury Academy Orozo Unveils First Academic Brochure In 50 Years
The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has broken a fifty-year-old jinx after the Federal Treasury Academy Orozo, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja recently unveiled its first standard academic brochure for the federal treasury institution at a low key ceremony held at the office of the Acting Director of the Academy, Jatto Aliyu Audu.
The academy, which trains public accounts officers was founded in 1971 in Lagos and domiciled in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation under the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.
The academic brochure covers courses in the Academy from 2022 to 2024.
Speaking at brief unveiling ceremony, the Acting Director appreciated the support of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, saying that the production would have been impossible without the approval of the President Buhari administration through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
“I indeed remain indebted to Accountant-General of the Federation and his management team for the prompt and massive attention on matters concerning the Federal Treasury Academy, Orozo”, he said.
He added that the “entire Federal Treasury Academy, Orozo, recognize the quality, purposeful and focus leadership, the incumbent Accountant General of the Federation ts providing to the Treasury House, Federal and State Governments.
“This in indeed is impacting positively on the National and Sub-National Treasury reforms including FTA, Orozo for steady progress and remarkable successes being recorded in the Nigeria public Finance space and beyond.
“This Brochure 2022-2024 extensively arranged in professional array the trainings in Government Accounting, Public Sector Auditing, Budgeting and recent reforms in Public Financial Management in Short term, Specialized, and Long term training for Junior, middle and very senior staff of Finance and Accounts Department of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Federal Government, State Government, Area Councils, Other arms of Government, the Military and Para-military establishments”, Mr. Audu said.
The Brochure aside government Accounting, Auditing, Budgeting & Public Finance also aptly captures well researched topics in economy, Governance, International Trade and contemporary issues in public finance and international politics, international relations, communication management reforms, he explained.
“It as well captures contemporary issues befitting of full Directorate Grade level Officers across diverse fields of national and international economies for refresher courses for Directors of Finance and Accounts, Internal audit and Treasury Revenue Directors for experience sharing and peer review mechanism”, he said.
The resource persons for this Directorate level refresher courses, he disclosed, will be drawn from among Permanent Secretaries, Saving DFAs, Retired Director Finance & Account, Director Administrative, Treasury Revenue Directors, Operatives/Officials of EFCC, ICPC, Code of Conduct Bureau, FIB, AMCON, Academic Doctors, Professors in social sciences and HOD Accountings Departments of some selected Nigerian Universities.
“Eventually the Academy is to serve as a pool for professiona| Accountants of retired treasury officers, Permanent Secretaries and Director Grade level as resource persons.
“This Brochure is therefore produced and recommended for Ministries, Department and Agencies ot Federal, State and Area Council Governments as well as Military, Paramilitary establishments, other arms of government who desire for the:
“Training and development of quality man-power for their finance and Accounts Department;
“Desire to keep pace with the on-going reforms in public financial management space;
“Preparation of financial statements that meet best international practices Safeguard of critical assets of their organizations;
“Ensuring efficient service delivery of the department of Finance and Account and by extension their organizational broad goals and objectives;
“Desire to give modern Auditing training to the staff of their internal Audit Unit/Department;
