From Happy New Year To Happy New Month…

Spread the love

From millenary to centenary to vicennial to quindecennial to duo-decennial, to decades to quinquennial, to annually, to monthly, to weekly to daily to hourly, to minutes to seconds and even to milliseconds, we appear to have deviced salutations that fit into every space in time. Whether we were here before, whether we are already here or whether we will still be here, we have found a salute to herald every moment in time.

So now, we hear happy new year, which we have exited now to happy new month, we also hear happy new week, then to happy Sunday, happy Monday, happy Tuesday, happy Wednesday, happy Thursday, happy Friday and happy Saturday. And it appears we are soon going to start hearing happy 1 o’clock till the last hour and so on and so forth.

It is not like there is anything wrong with wishing ourselves happiness. After all, what is life without happiness? It’s just that, if wishes were horses, beggars would ride. If we were truly sending happiness through those salutations, our country will be filled with happiness indeed. We were once rated the happiest people in the world, but that was long before the happy this and happy that arrived.

So as we move into the new calendar month, may we not only pass around empty wishes of happiness but also TAKE practical ACTION in our own little way, in our home, in our estate, in our work place and in our community, to deliberately spread happiness. Think of any little action you can take today!

I join others to sincerely wish you a happy new month.

Yours sincerely,
Citizen Agba Jalingo.
