The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has in a historic victory, defeated his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Obi polled 582,454 votes to defeat the former Lagos State governor who scored 572,606 votes.

Tinubu was a two-time Lagos State Governor and had held Lagos State since 1999.
